Air threading and hands-free control for everyday overlocking
The BERNINA L850 brings 18 overlock stitch choices together with generous working room, a free arm and controls you can adjust as you sew. Finish fabric edges, construct stretch garments, create flatlock details or switch to a rolled hem with a machine designed to make setup and fabric handling comfortable.
Thread the loopers with one step
The One-Step BERNINA Air Threader uses a press of the foot control to carry the looper threads through the machine. The loopers move automatically to the correct threading position, so there is no need to search for that position with the handwheel. Both hands remain free to guide the threads. Colour-coded one-path threading helps you follow the route when changing a stitch configuration.
Reach the needles and guide the fabric
An integrated needle threader and automatic needle stop up simplify needle-thread changes. The presser foot swings out for access and returns with Auto Swing Back. Use the BERNINA Free Hand System knee lifter to raise and lower the foot while keeping both hands on your project, particularly when positioning a cuff or negotiating a curve.
Refine the seam as you work
Adjust thread tension, cutting width, stitch length and differential feed to suit the combination of material and thread. Micro Thread Control (mtc) adjusts the amount of thread around the fabric edge. These settings can be changed while sewing, helping you refine the finish as you work. The cutting knife can be engaged or disengaged from outside the machine.
Room for sleeves and larger pieces
The free arm supports tubular items such as sleeves and cuffs. A slide-on table is included for supporting larger fabric pieces, while 143 mm of space to the right of the needle gives you room to manoeuvre. Sew at up to 1,500 stitches per minute, or work stitch by stitch when following precise lines and curves.
